Improve your winning odds at Roulette


The first thing to realize and accept about roulette is that you have no influence over where the ball is going to rest. So it is hard to predict the outcome of each spin. What one needs is a good strategy on how to bet according to the outcome. You need to vary the intensity of betting. Firstly, play more as you win and less as you lose.

You should establish a pattern of play in making selections and stay with it. You should not strive to win every round or at every spin of the wheel. There is very little you can do to influence the outcome at roulette. This way you will enjoy playing.

Sometimes your numbers will not hit for long periods. If you don’t hit for three straight rolls on a rupees hundred bet, then spread rupees five hundred worth of chips across the table to better your odds. Go more for corner bets and place just one chip on what you feel will be the winning number or your lucky number. Now remember that a corner bet is when you place a chip in a position that splits four numbers and if one of those numbers happen to come you get paid off at eight to one.

Here again money management plays a big part. It is common for gamblers no matter how disciplined to play on impulse. It is a good idea to keep aside some money for your impulsive play. In America they like to use a wheel with a double zero. Hence this wheel is known as the American wheel and is used in almost all of the US casinos. Pockets are numbered from 1 to 36, plus 0 and 00 for a total of 38 pockets. In Europe and also in Nepal, they use the single zero wheel. It is common practice to give different players different coloured chips so that there is no confusion. Each roulette table also has a different minimum for betting. So be sure to check before sitting at the table so you don’t end up betting more than you would like to, just to save face.

There are several ways of betting. The simplest is to bet on one number, which is called a straight bet. If the number wins you get paid 35 to1. Another way of betting is a split bet where you place your bet on the line separating two numbers. If one of the numbers wins then you get paid 17 to1. The next is a street bet where you put the chip in the front of a row of three numbers. If any of these three numbers come up then you get paid 11 to1. The other possibility is to place your chip on the line between two streets so that your bet covers a double street. Now if any of the six numbers wins you get paid 5 to1. Then there is the column bet. Each area corresponds to the numbers in the column directly above it. There are three possible positions for this. If you put you chip under the first column and any of the numbers in the column come up you will be paid 2 to1. If any other number comes up including 0 and 00, you lose.

There is one bet that many seasoned gamblers play. That is, Black and Red, Even and Odd - 1 to 19 and 19 to 36. Winning with this method is quite simple. When you lose, just double the bet and you will win. Different casinos have different rules but if where you play allows you to play all of them together then try it.
